We see it more often than we realize. It’s on every sign around the church campus, all of our social media pages, and nearly every printed piece we produce. It is our logo – a symbol designed to help you identify Cornerstone in a split second – before you even have a chance to read the name. That type of recognition is priceless, and as of this month, Cornerstone has a new logo that will help us reach more people than ever before.

At Cornerstone Church, we don’t typically use terms like marketing and advertising because it seems to fit more with the corporate world rather than a church, and our mission is to make disciples—not to sell a product. Yet, more and more, we are finding that many of the theories and ideas behind marketing and advertising can be applied to what we are doing as a church.

A logo is a way for us to visually communicate who we are without saying a word. People remember a much higher percentage of what they see rather than what they hear, and this logo makes it easy for them to recognize Cornerstone Church in an instant. Think of McDonald’s golden arches or the Nike “swoosh.” Simply seeing those designs brings up feelings about the organizations they represent. We want people to look at our logo and think of the life, diversity, hope and unity of Cornerstone.

In designing the new logo, we wanted to focus on who we are and what we do as a church – our identity. The vision God has given us is to see people saved, help them develop a relationship with Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to walk in the fullness of God and the freedom of His Son, Jesus Christ.

In short, our purpose is One Hope for Every Heart.

We changed the logo because we wanted to have something that better represents who we are as a church. The new logo's design and colors are intended to complement the graphic representation of One Hope for Every Heart which focuses our church’s vision and purpose into one easy to remember and recognize phrase. The various colors represent diversity – everyone is welcome at Cornerstone. The shape represents an outward focus – reaching out to our community. And, no matter what, we keep Christ at the center of everything we do.

All of Cornerstone’s ministries will be affected by the logo redesign. It will reflect our church’s unity in a deeper way. Instead of having many different logos, we now have one logo that serves all of our ministries. We are communicating to many more people than we have in the past, and doing so in a clear way will allow us to reach more people than ever before.

Again, our ultimate goal was to create a logo that expressed our identity, and we believe this new logo does just that. In the process, we were also reminded how valuable a practice like marketing and advertising can be to helping proclaim the good news of the gospel – One Hope for Every Heart.
